MAKING THE RESTAURANT the process for the Staff Group
STAFF GROUP
The Staff Group (total 6 people) is made from the 3 smaller groups: The Idea Guys (2 people), The Researchers (2 people), and The Movers and Shakers (2 people). They are generally responsible for finding the stuff (food, chairs, services) for the restaurant. After you decide the groups you can look at your section for the list of tasks.
The Idea Guys (2 people)
1. Make a list
What will 25 customers need at a restaurant in one night? This will include plates, chairs, food, toilet paper, etc. Here’s a link to help you decide.

Check and double check with the chefs to decide what food and how much they will need.
Then finalize the list of needed items and give a copy to the Researchers and the Movers and Shakers.
2. Give the list and the survey you got from the Promoter Group to the appointed school staff. You will observe how they find ways to change from a $2000 limit to a $250 limit. After observing, copy and paste the worksheet below to a word document (or go to the bottom of the page and download the word document). Then, fill it out.

You did some work, then met with a professional from your school who does similar work. Now contrast the professional's work with yours. Use 3 sentences each to describe 3 things they changed or added. Your response should try to answer what, why, and how. When you are finished get the professional school staff to sign your worksheet at the bottom.

The Researchers (2 people)
1. Determine the total cost (+delivery cost) and shipping time for the items on the list. From each website you decide to use please print out any information about the return policy and give it to the Movers and Shakers. DO NOT BUY anything; simply print out your online shopping cart.

Send at least one email to a distributor whose website does not have prices and ask how much a product costs and how long the delivery time takes. Forward the email to me or provide other proof. Please make sure to explain that you are doing a school project and do not intend to buy. Consider the below example (also available at the bottom of the page as a word document).
Dear Person’s full name/full department name/full company name,
I am a student at San Bernardino High School, California. For a school project, we will pretend to open a restaurant. I’m emailing you to obtain the price list (plus shipping) and rate of delivery of several items. These are # ____ of ___....
Thank you,
Name

2. Give a readable printout of your shopping cart lists with delivery times and prices to the Accountant Group. They will review it. If they think you spent too much money they will give it back to you. Remember your budget is $2000.
Movers and Shakers (2 people)
1. You will be the waiters/waitresses on the day of the event. Use this link to help you prepare.

2. Use the list given to you by the Ideas Guys and take notes on problems that happen next to each item as you are working. Also note problems that don't come from the listed items at the bottom. For instance, maybe there were too many straws, or the chairs broke easily, etc. Write a paragraph conclusion in Microsoft word using proper headings. The conclusion should decide which items you will return, if any, and how the restaurant can improve next time. Think about: What wasn't stocked and what were the quality and quantity of the stocked items?
